The series of work, Reminiscence, explores the beauty of a moment through fragmented memories. Metallic and charcoal segments create an illusion of decay and fragility by referencing the passing of time as well as portraying broken silhouettes of figures taken from family photographs. The process of burning fractures the timber grains exposing the pathway of the interconnected generations from child, parent, grandparent and beyond by extending into the woven wirework. Blackened wood preserves the heart of the work and symbolically the time shared in reminiscence, piecing together stories past – capturing the essence of a moment.
