Glossy

The series of work, Contours, was developed in response to the call out by Ombre Gallery for an exhibition, GLOSSY.  Contours examines the integral function of the body as an object for personal and artistic expression.   It highlights adornment as a symbolic act signifying the interconnected relationship between the body and self as well as the representation of the self to the other. Within this construct, the ‘glossy’ serves as a stylish stimulus for manifesting one’s identity. The simplified silhouettes of this series emanate from the influential body language of cover models poses. Curvatures in the metal not only accentuate the contours of the body, which we aim to adorn, but also the turning of the page. With each new season, the action of flipping through magazines embodies the hopeful potential to reimagine one’s image and self – a fresh page, a fresh start.
